Recently I find this notice on Sony web site:
Dear Valued Sony’s VAIO Customer:
It has recently come to our attention that a limited number of VAIO S-series personal computers may exhibit the following:
The system either fails to boot or sporadically shuts down.
The models which may be affected are:
VGN-S16GP/LP/TP
VGN-S18GP/LP/TP
VGN-S26GP/LP/TP
VGN-S28GP/LP/TP
If you own one of these models and experience this symptom, please contact your local VAIO Service Centre. A list of the VAIO Service Centres can be found in the Support Network page If it is determined that your product is among those affected, Sony will extend your Sony limited warranty on your motherboard for up to 24 months.
For service within the scope of this limited warranty, Sony will repair the unit free-of-charge. All components other than the motherboard will be subject to the standard limited warranty provided with the unit.
We would like to express our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this problem may have caused.

I do think the same! I have a vaio s series and I burn my motherboard only 1 months after warranty ends. Assistence ask me 900 euro even if they admit that s series is too powerfull and gets too hot! do not buy vaio…
does this include sony vaios model PCG-6D9P? the same happened to my lap top. im from zambales, philpiines. where can i bring it for repair?

I need motherboard for sony vaio vgn-fe660g (pcg7n2l). I find out that i need motherboard Sony Vaio VGN-FE Motherboard MBX-149, wich one is compatibil with my model: ms10, ms11, ms12 ?
