International star race car drivers Marco Werner and Emanuelle Pirro were on hand when Audi unveiled its newest super car, the Audi R8. They were joined by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, car enthusiasts, as well as an all-star cast of Audi automobiles — including the Le Mans-winning Audi R10 TDI, brand new Audi S-Series models, and a 70-year-old, museum-housed Auto Union. Passers-by had a chance to check out the cars as they made their way down Park Avenue to an unveiling ceremony and press event at the New York City Audi Forum.

The cars were the stars of this event. The Audi R8 sports car was accompanied by the Audi R10 TDI, the race car that won this year’s 24 Hours at Le Mans, driven by winning driver Marco Werner, and an incredibly rare, 70-year-old Auto Union, one of the world’s first mid-engine racers, and the ancestor of the R8. A police escort accompanied the cars down Park Avenue, making for an unmatched automotive spectacle as they rolled down Park Avenue to the opening of the brand-new New York City Audi Forum.
