IBM reveals their “Five for Five,” a list of innovations that have the potential to change the way people work, live, and play over the next five years. With each passing moment, technology is growing by leaps and bounds and these five innovations showcase some of the key strides that are being made and how they will impact our daily lives.

  • • 3-D Internet – A new 3-D Internet will allow you to walk the aisles of your favorite stores, interact with experts and even virtually try on clothes, all in the convience of your own home.
  • • Instantly “Speak” Another Language – Real time speech translation on your handheld device will allow you to eliminate language barriers.
  • • Cell Phones Start to Read our Minds – Advanced “presence” technology will give handheld devices the ability to automatically learn about your preferences and know where you are to direct you to the closest branch of your bank, or even recommend a nearby restaurant you’d like.
  • • Clean Drinking Water with Nanotechnology – Utilizing atomic science in new and exciting ways, such as filtration to provide clean drinking water to nations around the world or to purify water in an emergency, such as hurrricanes, tsunamis or droughts.
  • • Doctor Check-Ups at Home – After taking your blood pressure or pulse in the convenience of your own home, you doctor will be able to access the results through a cell phone to monitor your health.
