Nikon announce the new 24.5-megapixel FX-format (35.9 x 24.0mm) D3X digital SLR camera!

In the studio or on location, the Nikon D3x 24.5MP FX Digital SLR (Body Only) faithfully captures NEF (RAW) files that, when processed, are approximately 138 MB! Of course, neither a Nikon 24.5-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor nor 138 MB files are of value unless they deliver truly superior image quality. And in this regard, the new D3X exceeds expectations. The D3X features Nikon’s exclusive EXPEED image processing technologies teamed with the proprietary Nikon Scene Recognition System to ensure the utmost in image fidelity, low noise, faster, more accurate autofocus and amazing file processing speed that makes continuous shooting at up to five frames per second possible. In addition, the D3X’s ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 1600 (with Lo1, 50 and Hi 2 up to 6400) is mindful of the needs of photographers specializing in commercial, fashion and fine art photography.

Added ISO settings of Lo-1 ISO 50, Hi-1 ISO 3200 and Hi-2 ISO 6400 extend versatility.

Two Live View modes add flexibility, and up to 27x magnification in the Tripod Mode, acute focusing accuracy is easily confirmed.

Continuous shooting at up to 5 fps at full FX-format resolution

Olympus µ 1040 is an extremely elegant performer. Measuring in at a depth of just 16.5mm at its thin end, it combines a 3x zoom (38-114mm) with features as Advanced Face Detection and Shadow Adjustment Technology. The new Intelligent Auto mode can detect the five most commonly-used scenes and then automatically adjust camera settings including focus and exposure. A large (6.9cm/2.7”) HyperCrystal LCD helps users frame and review their shots. In addition to the camera’s internal memory, photos can be stored on xD-Picture Card or on microSD Card. The 10 Megapixel µ 1040 will hit stores from September 2008.

Its sleek, thin metal body really makes a statement and comes in a dazzling array of colours. These include Starry Silver, Midnight Black, Magma Red and Melon Yellow, with a sliding lens cover that enhances the µ 1040’s streamlined appearance. Rather than being cluttered with many buttons, a flat control panel serves to access most functions. This ensures easy navigation while simultaneously getting the hearts of minimal design enthusiasts racing.

New is the Intelligent Auto mode. It identifies the most commonly-used scenes and then applies the settings to subsequent photos. Advanced Face Detection Technology lets up to 16 faces be recognised by the camera. Matched with Shadow Adjustment Technology, which cleverly optimises shadowy areas in picture, you can be sure that your human subjects are always caught in the right light.

Thanks to Digital Image Stabilisation which boosts ISO values, crisp and sharp photos are assured – even in low-light situations.

Perfect Shot Preview lets adjustments to the image be shown on the LCD in real time. This makes it easy to choose the right settings to achieve the best effects. In cases where further assistance might be required, the in-camera help guide puts solutions at your fingertips. Users also have a choice of up to 39 languages for the camera menu. In addition to internal memory, pictures can be stored to xD Picture Card, or – thanks to a bundled attachment – to microSD Card. And to ensure easy handling of photos on a computer, the multifaceted Olympus Master software is also included.

The Olympus µ 1040 – main features:
• Miniature 3x optical zoom (38-114mm*) in super slim metal body (just 16.5mm at its thin end) to capture everything from great scenes to exciting close-ups
• 10 Megapixels to make poster-size prints
• The easy way to perfect images – Intelligent Auto mode detects the five most commonly used scenes and adjusts settings, focus and exposure automatically
• Advanced Face Detection of up to 16 persons for perfectly focused and exposed faces, plus correct exposure of other image areas
• 6.9cm/2.7″ HyperCrystal LCD for excellent previews even in brilliant sunlight
• Digital Image Stabilisation for less blur even in low light
• TruePic III image processor for faster image handling and higher image quality
• Liven up your memories with movie recording with sound (up to VGA resolution at 30 fps)
• xD-Picture Card and microSD Card compatible

Four years in the making, enVisionMATH is a research-based program that blends visual animations and compelling graphic text centered on conceptual understanding and helping students develop their reasoning ability for problem-solving — the critical foundation for higher level math they will need to succeed in college and in their careers, according to enVisionMATH author Dr. Randy Charles, Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics, San Jose State University, and past Vice President of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.

The ECOshot is specifically designed for those who love any type of outdoor diversions from the serene to the extreme. Its durable fully rubberized exterior allows users to take impressive photographs under tough outdoor conditions. Large accessible shutter and menu buttons make using this camera a breeze, even when wearing gloves. Whether kayaking, skiing, rafting, snowshoeing, hiking, scuba diving or snorkeling there’s no fear that water or ice will damage or ruin the camera. And its compact size makes it the ideal camera for all outdoor and watersport situations.

The new SPY mode allows the camera to take continuous pictures at set time intervals so you capture the perfect shot of hard to photograph subjects. Select the desired time interval between pictures from 5 seconds to 5 minutes and push the shutter button. The camera will automatically take pictures until the memory card is full or you push the shutter button again. Capture rare photos of animals and sea creatures that would normally be difficult to photograph.

Guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 75 feet/23 meters, the ECOshot is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket and weighs 10.4 ounces/295 grams (with 2AA batteries and an SD memory card). The camera is fully rubber armored for sure-grip handling and shockproof to 6ft/2m.

The SeaLife ECOshot features 14 MB of built-in memory, and an SD Card slot that can be used to expand the memory up to 1 GB. The camera comes complete with Photo Express, Photo Explorer software and USB connection cable. The SeaLife ECOshot is available at select outdoor and photo retailers nationwide at a suggested list price of $229.95.

Samsung today introduced the NV24 HD – a 10 mega-pixel point and-shoot digital camera capable of shooting high-definition video. Additionally, with measurements of 3.8″ x 2.4″ x 0.7″, the NV24 HD hits the mark as the world’s smallest, 24mm ultra wide angle, 10 mega pixel digital camera.

The NV24 HD gives shooters the ability to record video in 720p high-definition at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. Shooters can also take advantage of a movie stabilizer and optical zoom while recording video and with Samsung’s Successive Recording mode, can pause, and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files. Additionally, the NV24 HD utilizes H.264 compression.

Dual Image Stabilization, which combines both Samsung’s improved and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Digital Image Stabilization (DIS). When selected, OIS and DIS work simultaneously to provide blur -free images, no matter how shaky the user’s hand may be.

Samsung has included a new, secondary Photo Style Selector (PSS) dial. Located on top of the camera, opposite the standard mode dial, allows users to set the NV24 HD to a designated shooting mode. Empowering the shooter’s thumb, the PSS dial brings a host of creative effects to the fingertip, allowing the user effortless access to seven types of color profiles, including Soft, Vivid, Forest, Retro, Cool, Calm and Classic.

Smart Touch enables easy navigation of the camera’s comprehensive feature set by simply sliding a finger across the control buttons positioned around the camera’s 2.5″ LCD screen, which will automatically brighten or dim depending on the current lighting situation. For reviewing and sharing images with others, the NV24 HD also features an intuitive Multi-Slide Show. With Mutli-Slide Show, end users can playback their images using five different slide transitions and can also have their images set to scroll to the camera’s preloaded music or their own favorite MP3 files.

Users can also take advantage of advanced features such as Face Detection and Self Portrait mode.

Face Detection technology makes taking pictures of family and friends a snap, as it detects up to nine faces and automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure better composition and image quality.

Self Portrait mode is a unique functionality that takes the guessing out of taking a self portrait. By utilizing Face Detection technology, the NV24 HD automatically detect the user’s face, adjusts focus and exposure, and will only allow a photo to be taken if the subject is centered in the frame. Additionally, with the ability to shoot at ISO 3200 and 14 scene modes to choose from, including Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-Up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, Café, Food, and Self Portrait, shooters can effortlessly adjust the NV24 HD and capture the best image possible in any setting.

The Function Description automatically provides a brief and easy to understand description of each setting when scrolling through the camera’s menus, helping the end-user determine which setting is appropriate for their current shooting scenario.

Available March 2008.

and a powerful 10x optical zoom lens.

By connecting the new camera to any HDTV set
with Sony’s VMC-MHC1 high-definition component cable (sold separately), you can see the digital photos in full 1080 HD resolution.

For group shots, moms and dads will appreciate the model’s face detection technology. It identifies up to eight faces in the camera’s 2.5-inch LCD screen, and automatically adjusts for correctly exposed, sharp photos.

To reduce chances of blurry photos, the H3 model incorporates Super Steady Shot(R) optical image stabilization that minimizes blur caused by camera shake. This is an important feature when shooting at slow shutter speeds at full zoom. The unit’s high sensitivity (up to ISO 3200) will also capture well-exposed, natural-looking photos, even in challenging low-light conditions.

Equipped with Sony’s Dynamic Range Optimizer, originally developed for the Alpha digital SLR system, the new camera can analyze captured image data, and instantly determine the best exposure and tonality of each picture before JPEG compression. Other helpful in-camera functions include red-eye correction and photo retouching effects with filters.

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H3 camera will ship next month for about $300. Additional accessories will include wide and telephoto conversion lenses, filters, batteries, travel chargers, sports packs and cases. The VMC-HD1 high-definition component cable is currently available for about $40.

Canon EOS 40D will be available for sell in September 20. So, only one month to wait.

Canon EOS 40D is building on the Canon’s EOS 20D and 30D models. It has 10.1-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor (designed and manufactured by Canon) and a proprietary DIGIC III image processor, a completely redesigned autofocus sensor and fast, 6.5 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting capability (for bursts of up to 75 Large/Fine JPEGs or 17 RAW images).

Canon extends its “ease-of-reading” policy to the EOS 40D SLR’s viewfinder as well. The upgraded viewfinder increases optical magnification from 0.90x to 0.95x, expands the viewing angle from 251 degrees to 264 degrees and raises the eye point from 20mm to 22mm.

The EOS 40D camera’s completely redesigned nine-point AF sensor provides cross-type AF measurement at all nine focusing points for maximum apertures up to f5.6, and for the first time in any EOS camera, the central AF point offers enhanced precision for both vertical and horizontal subject contrast when using EF or EF-S lenses featuring maximum apertures of f2.8 or faster. AF calculation speed with the EOS 40D camera is 30 percent faster than the EOS 30D model.

The Canon EOS 40D camera offers ISO speeds from ISO 100 to ISO 1600 in 1/3-stop increments. Users can also opt for a high-speed setting of ISO 3200. For the first time in any EOS camera, the 40D model offers Auto ISO capability in Creative Zone exposure modes. This valuable new feature adjusts the ISO speed to the optimal setting based on low light or shaky shooting conditions. Additionally, the EOS 40D provides full-time display of the active ISO speed setting, both in the viewfinder as well as on the top LCD data panel.

The Canon EOS 40D Digital SLR is also the first camera in its class to offer two interchangeable focusing screens in addition to the standard precision matte screen. Users can opt for a grid-type focus screen that makes it easier to verify horizontal or vertical alignment while determining image composition, as well as the Super-Precision Matte focusing screen that makes it easier to grasp the “sweet spot” of manual focusing when using a lens with a maximum aperture of f2.8 or faster.

Designed exclusively for the EOS 40D SLR, the new Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E3A permits wireless transfer and back-up, as well as remote control of the camera in Live View mode. It can also be connected to various GPS receivers or Hi-Speed USB 2.0 external storage devices such as convenient flash drives or high-capacity hard drives with much larger storage capacity than the memory cards in the camera for instant back-up as images are captured. Compact and affordable, the WFT-E3A wireless transmitter also doubles as a vertical grip and requires its own BP-511A battery pack in addition to the battery installed in the camera body.

Face it with Face Detection Technology: Capturing the ultimate party pictures will never be an issue with the FinePix Z10fd, as it features Fujifilm’s innovative Face Detection Technology. A selectable mode that identifies up to 10 human faces in a scene, Face Detection Technology sets the correct focus for a chosen primary face and exposure for all detected faces automatically, regardless of where subjects are located within the frame.
